Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, CVNE, has formalized the acquisition of Bodegas LA VAL located in Salvaterra de Miño, in the County of Tea of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, to the company. The historic Rioja group thus adds its eighth winery to the group and incorporates Albariño wines into the family. This is the first winery in the Rías Baixas appellation to join CVNE, which is already present in the D.O.Ca Rioja, D.O. Ribera del Duero, D.O. Valdeorras and D.O. Cava.
According to Víctor Urrutia, CVNE’s CEO: “CVNE is a national treasure and our objective is to be Spain’s most important winery. Buying La Val will help us consolidate this objective’’.
LA VAL
Bodegas LA VAL was founded in 1985 and is a historic winery in the Rias Baixas region. It was one of the pioneers in the elaboration of Albariño and the driving force behind the creation of the Rías Baixas appellation in 1988.
With this acquisition, CVNE incorporates a winery and a recognized brand into the group. La Val only produces wines from its own vineyards. Currently, La Val has more than 222 acres, or 90 hectares of vineyards.
LA VAL allocates 70% of its sales to export markets.
