White wines are made from white grape varieties, such as Viura, Godello, Verdejo, and Malvasia. Unlike red grapes, the skin of white grapes does not contain red pigments. As a result, they do not colour the must extracted from the grapes. The tonality of white wines ranges from straw yellow to greenish-yellow and sometimes even golden yellow. Lighter tones typically denote fresher wines.
