Valdeorras is a small designation of origin wine region, spanning a little over 1,000 hectares. It covers two separate valleys of the Sil and Bibei rivers, in addition to a few tributaries, each with different soils and climates. There is granite soil and, as is often found with granite, schist, slate and even gneiss. As a result, there are areas suitable for white and red grape varieties.
