Asúa was born out of a desire to capture the essence of Haros’ historic wines. Haro was the birthplace of modern Rioja in the 19th Century, and is home to some of the most important historic wineries, not only in Rioja, but in all of Spain.
The Asúa project pays tribute to the founders of C.V.N.E., founded in Haro in 1879 by the brothers Raimundo and Eusebio Real de Asúa. We wanted to go a step further, with fastidious grape selection in our Haro vineyards and careful ageing in the finest barrels.
Asúa Gran Reserva is made exclusively with grapes from Haro, the capital of Rioja Alta where the soils are clayey, calcareous and ferrous, a continental climate with a marked Atlantic influence, and vineyards located above 500 m above sea level. The wines from these soils have been known for more than a century as “fine wines” given the typicity and elegance that this land brings to the raw material, making it ideal for making wines for aging.
Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
